Mortuary Science
Program Description
The Mortuary Science program prepares you for the challenges you will encounter as a funeral service professional. The curriculum addresses the changing needs and expectations associated with funeral services and accreditation standards.
Your training will include theoretical knowledge, as well as personalized practical instruction from licensed funeral directors and embalmers. The college not only uses its own facilities but also partners with area funeral directors and coroners to expose students to a wide range of experiences. The curriculum reflects current and future trends in the funeral profession.
The program covers the complexities today’s funeral practitioners face in areas such as business, accounting, and computer science. Instructors also convey a sense of social consciousness of the growing responsibilities and obligations of funeral service professionals.
The program prepares students to become professional caregivers in funeral services who will make a valuable contribution to their communities.
A two-year program leads to an associate of applied science degree at the East Chicago campus.
