Assessment All degree declared students applying for admission are required to take the ASSET or COMPASS test.

You must schedule a test date and time.
Contact the Student Affairs Office at the campus of your choice for testing information.

ASSET or COMPASS testing is also required for non-degree seeking students wishing to enroll in general education courses or certain technical courses, such as Child Development, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Phlebotomy. Prior Learning Assessment Credit If you have several years of work experience, a college degree may be closer than you think. Ivy Tech Community College can help you apply your experience, skills and knowledge toward a degree, saving you time and money and propelling you toward your educational and career goals.

Ivy Tech’s Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program will let you prove the learning you’ve gleaned from years of on-the-job training and experience and receive “verified competency” credit that may apply to a degree.

981-4403 CLEP Examinations Students may also receive credit for prior knowledge by taking one of the 34 CLEP examinations. This test recognizes student’s comprehensive subject knowledge acquired through independent or prior study, cultural pursuits, special interests, internships, or professional development.

Given your scores, the test allows you to skip general introductory courses and move on to more advanced classes, courses that are more relevant to your major and prospective career, or explore new and challenging academic areas. Even if you work full-time you can graduate in record time. Test scores are kept on record for 20 years. You may submit scores to Ivy Tech Community College or any institution. The cost of the CLEP exam is $65. Fifteen dollars ($15) must be prepaid to the college to register for the exam and fifty dollars ($50) must be paid directly to CLEP via personal debit/credit card.
