    Help Celebrate Innovation in Northwest Indiana!

    In a changing global economy, innovation is more important than ever. Thinking-outside-the-box is critical. In Northwest Indiana, we have made progress, but we need improvements in education and government, business and industry, and the not-for-profit community. We also need to encourage new and different industry, and innovative thinking in every sector and at all levels.

    The Society of Innovators was launched by Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana Northwest. By celebrating innovators and innovation, we bring attention to innovative individuals and teams in the not-for-profit, public and private sectors. We encourage leaders to rethink their commitment to innovation and foster more innovation in all sectors. We build pride in our region by showcasing innovators from Lake, Porter LaPorte, Starke, Jasper, Pulaski and Newton Counties. Innovators will be inducted at a reception at 5:30 p.m. in the Horseshoe Casino, Hammond on October 16, 2008.

    Nominate Individuals & Project Teams Online!

    The Society will induct individuals and teams for their innovations at a special reception at the Horseshoe Casino on October 16, 2008. An innovation is thinking in a creative way that produces something new and/or unique that is implemented. Sometimes, innovation gets confused with accomplishment, Invention, creativity and entrepreneurship. See our Clarification of Terms for a better understanding of innovation. Also, remember these important facts:

    • Today, every sector - education and government, business and industry, and the non-profit community - has to be innovative;
    • Technology is often linked with innovation, but it's not a requisite;
    • Remember, anyone can be an innovator!
    Innovative thinking can lead to a competitive advantage or solve a problem. It can move a business, organization and even a community forward. Follow the instructions to make your nomination using one of the online nomination links below.
