AURORA CASKET COMPANY DONATES INNOVATIVE DISPLAY SYSTEM TO IVY TECH’S MORTUARY SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
The mortuary science department of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana Northwest recently welcomed its latest donation from the Aurora Casket Company, Inc. of Aurora, Indiana -a contemporary selection room display system. The contemporary display modules are designed to display casket segments, cremation products, clothing and other merchandise including urns, vaults and more.
The contemporary display System is hailed for its’ warm, non-threatening presentation of funeral accessories. Ivy Tech mortuary science chair Rick Soria says “The new system is a far cry from the days when you had to go to a selection room to select funeral accessories. The selection process has now been enhanced to present everything in an attractive, accessible manner, in the comfort of the arrangement office.”
Soria credits the contemporary display module as an added resource to their growing program because it affords students the opportunity to master their arrangement conference skills by using Aurora's products in mortuary school. “When the students step into funeral homes to serve their internships they will have an added edge over other applicants" said Soria.
Aurora Casket sales representative, Steve Harrell says “We take great interest in the youth that enter this industry. Ivy Tech’s mortuary science program is a beacon to Northwest Indiana.
Because there are a variety of display methods, including the traditional casket selection room, the contemporary modules, and computerized virtual selections,” Harrell continued “We want to ensure that each student is educated on the various methods of displaying products.”
An additional benefit of the contemporary display module is that its’ mobility assists funeral homes that have limited space, allowing them to clear the selection room for overflow needs.
In February, 2004, The Aurora Casket Company- the largest family owned casket company in the country- donated "Family Advisor" software, an instructional tool manufactured to assist families in the pre-planning and planning stages of the selection of caskets, flowers and other funeral arrangements. The Contemporary Display System is Aurora’s second donation to Ivy Tech.
