EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH KICKS OFF SUMMER YOUTH CAMP
The Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program of Ivy Tech Community College, 1440 E. 35th Avenue in Gary, will kick-off its summer youth camp activities on Monday, June 19 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Gary campus Multi-Purpose Room. The afternoon will include business professionals who will speak briefly about their personal careers and what it takes to get there.
“The purpose of the fair is to get our students thinking about what preparations it will take for them to attain the occupation of their choice. It will greatly benefit the students to have the opportunity to speak directly to business professionals who can give them firsthand career information,” said Angela Releford, grant project specialist for the program.
ETS is designed to help students become interested in a career, stay in school and secure training after high school. The staff also assists middle and high school students who have a desire to pursue post-high school educational training and show financial need. ETS is funded by the U.S. Department of Education to provide educational serves to 600 sixth- through 12th-grade students in Lake and Porter counties. For more information about the program, contact Angela Releford at 981-1111.
