IVY TECH AND LAKESHORE PUBLIC TV HIGHLIGHT EDUCATION ISSUES
Ivy Tech and Lakeshore Public Television (formerly Channel 56-WYIN) have partnered to bring education to the forefront in the Region. Beginning October 27 at 8:30 p.m., stories of academic success and issues in education will be highlighted during an exciting and inspirational program. The program, entitled "Changing Lives..." will air quarterly on Lakeshore Television.
The Ivy Tech Marketing and Communications Department worked with producers Paul Nelson and Matt Franklin to spotlight educational opportunities, alumni, staff, students and business partners. While the show highlights many Ivy Tech initiatives, it also will address issues that face students throughout the Region in their quest for education and good-paying jobs.
"Our goal was, of course to let the community know what Ivy Tech was offering and how we change lives through our programs. However, there were also broader issues related to education that we wanted to get across as well," said Karen Williams, executive director of marketing and communications at the college.
"Indiana ranks 46th in the nation with citizens with a college education. In order for us to turn our economy around in Indiana, and in particular northwest Indiana, we are going to have make education a priority."
The program will also show the relationship between Ivy Tech and four-year universities throughout the region in accomplishing this goal.
The first show will also highlight the mortuary science program, an alumni spotlight, and the new campus in Valparaiso. The second quarterly program will air early next year. "Changing Lives..." will give our community a chance to see what Ivy Tech is all about four times a year. Visit the Ivy Tech website (nwi.ivytech.edu) for the next airing dates.
