PNC AND IVY TECH SIGN TRANSFER AGREEMENT
Gary – A press conference was held today, March 29, at Purdue North Central (PNC) in Westville, IN to announce and sign an articulation agreement between Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana and Purdue North Central. The agreement will allow Ivy Tech graduates to seamlessly transfer to PNC to continue on with bachelor’s degree studies, entering as fully credited juniors. This agreement extends to all Ivy Tech campuses throughout Indiana.

“Hours of hard work have gone into the development of this agreement,” said Chancellor J. Guadalupe Valtierra of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana Northwest. The resulting articulation agreement will have long lasting impact on students throughout Indiana and especially Ivy Tech students in Northwest Indiana. Now that PNC has twelve baccalaureate degree programs, Ivy Tech students will have a much wider choice of options after they receive their associate degrees.

Several years ago, Ivy Tech and PNC developed a transfer agreement that would allow Ivy Tech’s associate of applied science degree in Business Administration (Management Specialty) to transfer to PNC’s bachelor’s of science degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. That agreement between Ivy Tech and PNC was the first agreement of its kind to be worked out within the state.

“I think it is a wonderful opportunity for students at Ivy Tech to take advantage of programs at PNC. This is an example of how institutions of higher education, by working together, can make strides in improving educational opportunities for all Hoosiers,” said Valtierra. “The transfer agreement represents a leading edge approach to educational cooperation. Any student from any one of Ivy Tech’s 23 campuses statewide can come to PNC and transfer in as a fully articulated junior.”

Ivy Tech Community College is the state’s second largest public post-secondary institution with over 73,000 students enrolled this spring. Ivy Tech has 23 campuses throughout Indiana. It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community along with courses and programs that transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
