IVY TECH PROFESSOR RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS LEGAL AWARD
Ivy Tech Community College Mortuary Science Program Chair and Instructor, Rick Soria, recently received the Ten Commandments for Lawyers Award. This award is given to law students who receive honors in the Legal Profession course at the Valparaiso School of Law. Soria, the highest achiever in the course, received recognition and a plaque at the Law Week Luncheon at The Legacy Banquet Hall on West Lincolnway, in Valparaiso.
The distinguished honor, also referred to as The Larry G. Evans Scholarship in Professional Responsibility, was created to provide support for law students at Valparaiso University School of Law and honor law students who have demonstrated a commitment to the highest standards of moral conduct and professional ethics in the legal profession.
Atty. Larry G. Evans, -a 1962 graduate of the Valparaiso University School of Law and a partner in the law firm of Hoeppner, Wagner and Evans,- was on hand to present the self-named award personally.
Soria says, “It was truly an honor to receive such recognition. This award only intensifies my pride and honor in being apart of this unique profession.”
Local attorney Larry Evans is the author of the “Ten Commandments for Lawyers” and donates the plaque each year to deserving recipients.
