IVY TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGE REPORTS INCREASE IN SPRING SEMESTER RECORD ENROLLMENT
Ivy Tech Community College hit a record high for spring semester enrollment with 71,879 students enrolled statewide as of the first day of classes on January 8. The college's statewide total headcount was up 9.5% over the first day of classes last spring.
Full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment is also on the rise, increasing 10.1% over last spring. The FTE number enrollment figure this spring is 40,083 meaning more students are taking more spring classes than ever before at Ivy Tech.
Ivy Tech Northwest is also on the rise, ahead 6.5% from last year in both headcount and FTE. "This is a positive event for our region" says Ivy Tech Chancellor, J. Guadalupe Valtierra. It marks the second consecutive semester of increase in paid enrollment and total registrants for all four campuses Ivy Tech Northwest.
"We are pleased that residents of Northwest Indiana recognize the quality and value of an Ivy Tech education" says Valtierra. He also credits part of the success to strong community support, new programs, and the new Valparaiso campus.
Ivy Tech Community College is the state's second largest public post-secondary institution with over 100,000 students enrolled annually. Ivy Tech has 23 campuses throughout Indiana. It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community along with courses and programs that transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
