Indianapolis - Ivy Tech Community College announced today that Dr. Benjamin Young, Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and Dean of Students, at Indiana University East, has been hired to serve as Ivy Tech's Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, effective March 1.

Dr. Young has served as Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and Dean of Students at Indiana University East in Richmond, Indiana since 1997. In this capacity Dr. Young has advocated for enhanced student services, focusing on making education as accessible for students as possible. His efforts have included aligning class start times with student work schedules, making computer labs readily available, establishing programs to honor academic excellence and establishing off site locations and extended office hours to reduce student wait time during registration.

Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Young spent more than 20 years in higher education administration including eight years in the role of Vice President at community colleges, including Lincoln Land Community College (1990 - 1996) and City Colleges of Chicago (1996-1997).

"I am looking forward to joining Ivy Tech and having the opportunity to make a difference in student services, an area where I am very passionate," Dr. Young said. "I am also looking forward to working with the talented Ivy Tech staff from around the state, as we work towards common goals."

Dr. Young earned his Doctorate of Education in Higher Education from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. He also holds an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Alabama, a Master's of Education in Guidance and Counseling and a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri.
