Transferring Credits to Other Colleges
Once you finish your Ivy Tech coursework, you may wish to continue your education to the bachelor’s level or beyond. You can transfer Ivy Tech courses or degrees to many public and private colleges and universities. A variety of transfer agreements are in place--some are college-wide, and others cover individual Ivy Tech campuses.
In deciding where to transfer, consider the credits that are transferable, the compatibility between Ivy Tech programs and those of other institutions, the availability of the program you’re seeking, location, and costs at the transfer school. You may also consider earning a bachelor’s degree through distance education. Current technology may allow you to complete a degree from your home community—or even at an Ivy Tech campus.
Ivy Tech Community College is accredited by the same organization that accredits other colleges and universities in Indiana and Midwestern states. Therefore, the college
has agreements that allow students to transfer over 30 general education credits and apply them to a bachelor’s degree.
Many core General Education courses transfer to other colleges and universities. Before selecting your courses, please talk with your advisor for more information.
Transferring Credits to Ivy Tech
Students seeking to transfer credit to Ivy Tech must be admitted into a program
before an evaluation for transfer credit is undertaken. All transfer students
should have their official transcripts from all previously attended colleges
forwarded directly to the Office of the Registrar no later than the end of the
first term enrollment. Transcripts issued to the student are considered unofficial and will not be accepted.
Depending on the number of hours transferred to Ivy Tech, the student may or may not need to take the Compass Exam. The Student will also need to transfer all financial aid monies to Ivy Tech Community College Northwest.
